Four Reasons to Challenge Your Comfort Zone

It is no secret that one of the key ingredients of success is evolution. Whether it is in your professional or personal life, there is always room for improvement and the first step towards making headway is to step outside your comfort zone. As the famous founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, correctly stated “The biggest risk is not taking any risk. In a world that’s changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking any risks.” Whilst change could indeed be tough and even scary, here are four reasons why you should accept the challenge.

1. Find new aspirations – Can you imagine how many things in life you have yet to try? You could be missing out on a lot of potential hobbies if you continue to only do the same activities that you are already an expert at. Trying something new could give you exclusive insight on who you really are and what you are made of. This means that you might be getting closer to aligning what you do with the needs of your inner self.

2. Overcome your fear – Doing something for the first time is always scary but isn’t there a first time for every new experience? If you ever feel anxious to try something different, think about how people before you have probably done it and people after you will most likely do it. There is no reason why you will not be able to do it. Once you overcome the initial fear of trying something for the first time, you will be more confident to execute a second attempt.

3. Expand your consciousness – Stepping outside your comfort zone will help you gain perspectives by engaging your mind in different ways of thinking. Hence, preparing you for the transitions you may go through in life.  You will become more resilient, tolerant and adaptable to change.

4. Open doors to new opportunities – A collateral change that happens when you challenge your comfort zone is meeting new people and stepping into the different walks of life. Therefore, your mind transforms to have multiple dimensions and you start to overcome barriers of your own creation. That is when you will automatically start seeing new opportunities coming your way.
